Keylor Navas’ situation on the pitch has improved since he joined Nottingham Forest on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the January window.
After being a backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma at the Ligue 1 side, the 36-year-old has been the first-choice stopper for the Tricky Trees, making 10 league starts for them this year.
The former Real Madrid man’s temporary deal at Nottingham Forest is until the end of this season and they don’t have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent.
Navas had a chat with Paramount+, relayed by Medio Tiempo, where he expressed his desire to make a switch to Mexico and play for a specific club there.
“Mexico has great teams, for me. I would like to play for [Club] América. That’s the truth,” he said.
The possibility of Steve Cooper’s side retaining the Costa Rica international beyond this season could depend a lot on them avoiding getting relegated. They are currently 18th in the table, level on points with 17th placed Everton.
As it stands, Navas must return to PSG after his loan spell at Nottingham Forest. His deal in Paris is until 2024 and the French club would have to make a decision on his future in the summer.
