Flamengo are continuing to insist on signing Jorginho from Arsenal this month and now intend to try and convince Mikel Arteta to let him go.
That’s according to journalist Venê Casagrande, who reports that Flamengo technical director José Boto ‘will take to Arteta’ about the transfer.
Jorginho has been linked with a move to Brazil throughout this month, with Flamengo keen to sing him in this window.
The midfielder has encouraged the club to push for him by insisting that he’d love to play in Brazil, and they’ve been speaking with him and his agents about a move for weeks.
Indeed, reports this week stated that Jorginho, his agents, other representatives and Flamengo have all been talking via video call to finalise an agreement on that front.
The big problem has been Arsenal, who have so far refused to let the midfielder leave this month. In fact, they would like him to sign a new deal at the Emirates, with his current contract set to expire in the summer.
Flamengo need them to change their stance and Casagrande reports that José Boto plans to speak to Arteta to try and convince him to let Jorginho go. They’re insisting on having him in this window and want him released immediately.
The deal is being managed by various parties, but Brazilian representatives are insisting that his agents are aware of all the meetings with Flamengo.
Now there will be a meeting between Arteta and Boto to try and convince Arsenal to let the midfielder go in the next few days.
