Beşiktaş’ Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been linked with a return to England, where Brentford are said to be one of the contenders.

The midfielder joined the Black Eagles on a free transfer last summer, after being released by Liverpool.

He’s expected to leave the Turkish club this summer and Brentford are in the picture to sign him.

That’s according to according to Sports Digitale, and they have shared updates provided by journalist Sercan Dikme. He states that as well as Brentford, Ajax are showing interest in the 31-year-old.

Dikme claims the Bees and the Eredivisie side have ‘started negotiations’ with the former Arsenal man. He adds the two clubs are ‘about to make offers’, without specifying the details of their proposals.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has a contract at Beşiktaş lasting until 2026. On August 12th, Sercan Dikme reported the Englishman had held positive talks with the Istanbul club to terminate his contract.

He hasn’t made it clear now whether Thomas Frank’s side are aiming to buy or sign the player for free, with the latter surely likelier. Either way, Brentford have to battle it out with Ajax to secure Oxlade-Chamberlain’s services.
