Back at the start of the month, we saw the Italian media re-awakening the rumours which link Chelsea to Napoli star Hirving Lozano.
It was claimed that Blues’ boss Graham Potter ‘likes that type of winger’, while Napoli plan to make €50m with his sale.
Now on Rai (via CalcioNapoli24), it’s claimed by journalist Ciro Venerato that Lozano was actually offered to Chelsea.
The pundit, however, made it clear there’s heavy competition for his signing, and it won’t be easy to find a deal with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
“There are several clubs interested. The Mexican has entrusted himself to an English agency, who are trying to guarantee the player a salary on par with the current one, which Napoli will see reduced in the future,” said Ciro Venerato on Rai.
“The player has been offered to some English clubs, including Chelsea, but there is no lack of admirers in La Liga, including Sevilla and Villarreal. In the case of the attacker, a negotiation will have to be started with De Laurentiis”.
Hirving Lozano has been linked to a Premier League move since he left Mexico in 2017. He moved to Europe first by joining PSV, and then joined Napoli on a €45m deal in 2019.
The winger only has four goals and four assists for the Italian club this season, but the truth is that he’s part of a team who are about to make history if they win the Serie A title this season.
So Chelsea better get prepared, because even though he’s only valued at €28m by Transfermarkt, he’s likely to cost a little more.
