Juventus are keen on strengthening their midfield in the winter market and the focus is on Southampton’s Carlos Alcaraz.
Journalist Alfredo Pedullà states the Serie A side started negotiating a deal in secret on Tuesday morning.
The agreement with Southampton is ‘one step away’, and the midfielder can join the Old Lady on a loan deal with a right of redemption in excess of €30m.
Another journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, also claims the Turin club are closing in on a deal for the 21-year-old.
After failing their efforts to sign both Udinese’s Roberto Pereyra and Fiorentina’s Giacomo Bonaventura, they made an attempt for Alcaraz yesterday.
Juve have received the player’s approval and are closing in on a deal with Southampton. The ‘work is underway’ to reach an agreement with the Championship side for a loan with an option to buy. The total deal will be worth €35m.
Di Marzio states Juve are in continuous contact with the English club in the last few hours.
He further adds the negotiation is ‘being finalised’ and while the two clubs will sort out the final details, Alcaraz will undergo a medical in London on Wednesday, after which he’ll travel to Turin.
