Carlos Alcaraz moving to Flamengo is now seen as a certain thing in the Brazilian media. It’s been that way for a number of days, with a lot of confidence the player could be secured from Southampton.
The expected competition from Italy didn’t really turn into anything concrete. Lazio were credited with interest but didn’t move forward. And the plans they had, a loan with a low purchase option, didn’t look good for the Premier League club anyway.
Alcaraz is expected to move for around €18-20m, a record deal for Flamengo. There’s been reports about Victor Hugo being sent to Goztepe, Southampton’s sister club, on loan, although that doesn’t appear to be finalised yet.
Journalist Bruno Lemos now reportsAlcaraz will have his Flamengo medical in England on Wednesday morning. Should that all go to plan, and there’s not expected to be any issues, then he’ll jet out on Thursday to Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.
In between those two events he’ll sign his Flamengo contract, so presumably that has to happen in England.
