Leeds United are in the market for a new manager after sacking Jesse Marsch on Monday.
The Whites managed only four wins from 20 league games this season under the American’s orders. The poor results have seen them take 17th spot in the table.
On Tuesday, reports in the English press stated Leeds have identified Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola as the target.
These claims are relayed by Marca and AS, who then provide their own information on this case.
Marca state the 40-year-old doesn’t know anything about the movement from Leeds but is aware his name is on the agenda of several clubs.
They mention Leeds in a report that talks about the work carried out by the Spaniard at the La Liga side, which has seen them currently occupy fifth spot, three points behind fourth placed Atlético Madrid.
With regards to claims about Leeds, Vallecano sources told AS they are “calm” and want to “savour the moment”.
Iraola was quizzed about the reports linking him to other clubs after his side’s latest league win over UD Almería.
“Football belongs to the footballers. We are not that important. The players make us look better. I am aware of what my role is,” he said.
Iraola’s contract runs down in June and AS stress his ‘price is skyrocketing’ due to what he has done so far at Vallecano.
