Everton received a fee of around £10m for Ben Godfrey’s sale to Atalanta earlier this summer.
He departed after being an important squad player for the Toffees and the expectation was that he would make a mark in Italy, and he made an appearance against Real Madrid in the Super Cup final.
Things have changed quite quickly for the ex-Everton man though, with Alfredo Pedulla reporting that Godfrey could already be a transferrable entity at Atalanta.
He mentions that a decision about his future will be made soon and TuttoAtalanta have reported about why he has already fallen down the pecking order at La Dea
They state that while the club had high hopes from the defender, the Englishman is ‘struggling’. There is a defensive emergency at Atalanta but Godfrey’s failure to adapt to Gian Piero Gasperini’s methods is making La Dea consider an exit.
A loan deal could become a possibility and TuttoAtalanta also believe that a decision about his future could be made soon.
It’s early days, and Gian Piero Gasperini’s methods can take some getting used to.
