Liverpool’s interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers star Rayan Ait-Nouri is not surprising or any form of coincidence.
That’s according to Nottingham Forest scout Chérif Oudjani, who has been analysing three potential suitors for the Wolves star with Africa Foot.
Ait Nouri has been linked with a move away from Wolves this summer as he enters the final year of his current deal at Molineux, which expires in 2026.
Wolves have an option to extend that by another year but a move away is seen as likely this summer if he doesn’t extend his contract any further as this would be the last summer in which they could sell him for a decent price.
Several sides are believed to be eyeing him up and a report earlier this week insisted that Liverpool were one of the sides in the mix.
They’re likely to target a left-back this summer as they need a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who has looked past his best at times this season.
At 23-years-old Ait-Nouri could certainly be that man and Oudjani believes it is no coincidence that they are being linked.
“It’s not surprising that the Reds are interested in him,” he said.
“Liverpool will have a busy season in 2025/26, with the Champions League and three domestic competitions. The squad, which shouldn’t change much, will be in demand, given the large number of international players, and the manager will rotate his players.
“Rayan Aït-Nouri has been playing in England since 2020. He’s played nearly 150 Premier League matches, and he’s young and efficient. It’s no coincidence that he’s on Liverpool’s radar.
“I think he knows that by signing there, he might not get the same playing time as at Wolves or a less prestigious club like Liverpool, but he’ll also have the assurance of playing at the highest level.”
