Taty Castellanos had a good second half of the season at West Ham and he could now return to Italy.

The Hammers paid €29m to sign the Argentine from Lazio, who were in desperate need of funds at that point. The deal didn’t stop the London club from going down but Castellanos scored seven times in all competitions.

Six of those goals came in the Premier League, going past his tally of two from the first half of the Serie A season.

Clubs from Italy are now looking to take advantage of West Ham’s relegation. Sport Witness have covered how Maurizio Sarri would be keen on a reunion with him at Atalanta.

Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan are now also in the picture.

Why AC Milan are keen

MilanNews24 report that Milan want a striker who could replace Santiago Gimenez. with the Mexican is likely to leave.

As a result, Amorim wants the West Ham striker as a replacement. The Portuguese coach has himself suggested the Argentine as a target, and he’s seen as a good fit for the manager’s system.

This is mainly because Castellanos can also play slightly deeper, out wide and as a number nine. Amorim likes players of that type, as evident from his usage of Matheus Cunha at Manchester United.

A move for the Hammers’ forward will depend on Gimenez’s exit. This is true from a financial standpoint, especially as Goncalo Ramos is arriving for a record fee.

Hammers may Have no choice

Considering the 27-year-old’s qualities and top-flight experience, West Ham will find it hard to keep him in the Championship. The striker is one of the club’s highest earners and his exit will help financially.
