Taty Castellanos has done reasonably well at West Ham, despite having spent just five months at the club.
He played 16 times in the Premier League, finding the net six times. He made a mark in the FA Cup too, scoring once in four outings, showcasing that he is someone who can become a regular in the English top-flight.
West Ham’s relegation means that he could be too good for the Championship next season. Sport Witness have covered interest from clubs in Brazil but it is Fulham who can have the player’s preference.
Castellanos wants to stay in the Premier League, with the Hammers looking to avoid a loss on the deal.
Now, interest in the striker is growing and he could yet end up in Italy.
Sarri keen on reunion
TuttoAtalanta report that Atalanta are looking to restructure their entire squad in the summer. Maurizio Sarri is coming in as manager, having worked closely with director Cristiano Guintoli during their time at Napoli.
This will hand Sarri the chance to sign players of his choice too. One of the attackers that he wants is Castellanos, who thrived under him at Lazio before the move to West Ham.
This can be a key factor in convincing the striker about moving to Bergamo.
Atalanta will lose Ederson to Manchester United but this will hand them with the financial power to sign Castellanos. West Ham are expected to demand around €20m but money earned from Ederson’s exit can make this deal quite manageable.
Sarri is ready to hand a key role to the Argentine next season too. Gianluca Scamacca’s future is uncertain and if he leaves, Castellanos could come in as a natural replacement.
Move could help the Argentine
While staying in England will be attractive, returning to Sarri can prove just as helpful for Castellanos.
This is because of the appealing project being built by Atalanta. They appear willing to entrust Sarri with the keys to bring them back on track after a frustrating 2025/26 campaign. The manager himself has had a chaotic second spell at Lazio and is keen to work with Guintoli, who laid the foundation of his successes at Napoli.
The 26-year-old can find himself at the centre of this. Sarri brought the most out of him not long ago and there is every chance he takes Castellanos to the next level.
