Roberto De Zerbi longs to sign Manuel Locatelli from his Brighton & Hove Albion team, reports Wednesday’s edition of Tuttosport, via Il Bianconero.
The Brighton manager’s star has been rising even further this season as he takes the Seagulls through a sustained period of success despite the big exits during the summer window.
Beating Manchester United at the weekend has of course made news around the European sport media, and in Italy, where De Zerbi was always rated highly anyway, and he’s being repeatedly heralded.
Therefore, any player targeted by the manager can be somewhat flattered.
The Italian report explains that De Zerbi is considered to be Locatelli’s ‘football father’, given the midfielder shone during their time together at Sassuolo.
It’s stated Brighton tried to sign the Juventus player during the summer window, but he has a love for the Turin club which is hard to break.
There’s now even talk of a renewal, which would seriously harm De Zerbi’s chances of a reunion. That said, it’s worth seeing what goes on in the coming months, because things can change at Juve in a heartbeat.
Locatelli has been a regular so far, but if that were to change, the sirens coming from Brighton could be more tempting.
