According to a claim in the Turkish media, Trabzonspor have tabled an offer for Colo- Colo forward Lucas Cepeda, just over a week after Southampton made their move.

The 22-year-old winger has been trying to impress in a struggling Chile team, who have won only two of their 16 World Cup qualifiers so far and are looking certain to miss out on the tournament.

Taka Gazete report on the latest developments regarding Southampton and Trabzonspor interest in the young attacker. It’s claimed the Super Lig side have submitted an offer for Cepeda and that their bid is more attractive than Southampton’s.

The Championship side’s intentions are to purchase the player and then loan him out to their sister club Goztepe. Southampton and Goztepe are both owned by Sport Republic and this has seen Saints players being loaned or transferred to the Turkish club in recent windows.

However, this offer was ‘not warmly received’ by Colo-Colo, giving Trabzonspor an advantage at this stage.

Both clubs should also expect to face competition from Udinese, River Plate, Bologna and Lyon.

Since signing for Colo-Colo in 2024, Cepeda has scored nine goals in 37 games. He’s contracted to the Chilean side until June 2026.
