A month ago, we covered the Swedish media revealing Liverpool’s interest in BK Häcken winger Momodou Sonko.
It was reported that the Reds sent a scout to watch the player in action and became the ‘hottest club’ in the race for him.
As Sonko today spoke to Sportbladet, he now pointed out that people have been asking him about the potential switch to Liverpool.
He claimed that with the Reds and Barcelona being named as potential destinations for him, his friends wonder who he will join.
“I get a lot written to me from my friends. It’s fun at first but it can be too much too.”
The 18-year-old was also asked what he’d do if Jurgen Klopp called him, and he replied: “If he were to call privately, I would laugh. It is quite unlikely.
“It is easier for him to reach my agents than me. I haven’t received that call anyway.”
According to Sportbladet, not only Liverpool and Barcelona, but RB Leipzig, Bologna, Ajax and PSV also follow the youngster. And Häcken already turned down an offer for him, although the sender’s name isn’t revealed.
The outlet claims that his transfer is set to cost between €7m and €9m, while a Häcken director claims that he’s ‘not a cheap player’.
Sonko has four goals and one assist in 13 appearances for the Swedish club this season, Since his contract with them expires next year, they may soon start feeling pressured to guarantee that big sale.
