Inter Milan are making progress in their pursuit of Liverpool‘s Curtis Jones, after failing to sign him in January.

The Serie A side showed keen interest in the midfielder in the winter market and wanted to sign him first before sanctioning a move for Davide Frattesi.

In February, Frattesi’s agent Giuseppe Riso said Liverpool’s decision to block Jones’ exit stopped his client’s move to Nottingham Forest.

The Italian champions continue to have the Reds player on their agenda for the summer.

On May 20th, Sport Witness relayed news that Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu is a big fan of the 25-year-old. The same source stated he had a fall out with Arne Slot and is still refusing to sign an extension.

Earlier this week, we covered claims from Italy the Nerazzurri find the Premier League side’s £35m [€40.4m] price too much. The player seems to have given his approval to Chivu’s side, who have been in contact with his entourage.

Inter’s meeting with Liverpool

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes had a meeting with his Inter Milan counterpart, Piero Ausilio, in Monaco.

The pair talked about a few topics and the England international was the main subject of their discussion.

Inter Milan, after a failed attempt in January, are keen on securing the player’s services. Despite his age, his experience of playing at the highest level make him an interesting option. Therefore, Jones remains an attractive target for the San Siro club.

After Hughes’ meeting with Ausilio, the Englishman is no longer is just an idea.

For now, there’s no agreement in place between the two clubs. Di Marzio insist Liverpool and Cristian Chivu’s side ‘continue to work on finding a solution’ during the upcoming meetings.

Contract situation forces Liverpool

Curtis Jones has over 13 months left on his contract and earlier claims stated he refused to sign an extension.

Therefore, the summer window will be Liverpool’s last big chance to cash in from his sale, to avoid losing him for free in 2027.

Transfermarkt value the midfielder, who played 49 matches for the Reds this season, at €35m.
