Over the past few years, RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo has been linked to Manchester City and he continues to be named as a target for them.
Bild say the track leading the 26-year-old to Manchester City is ‘going to be really hot’ this summer.
It’s claimed Manchester City’s pursuit is ‘getting concrete’ because Pep Guardiola wants to bring Olmo to the Etihad.
The manager had thought about the Spain international and even asked his superiors to sign him in the past. Guardiola still prefers the player, who has a €60m release clause.
Earlier claims stated the clause is valid until July 15th, and Bild explain he’ll be valued at €60m even after the deadline.
Bild points out Manchester City’s failed efforts to sign Olmo last summer, after Kevin De Bruyne suffered an injury. Leipzig refused to let him leave, but they ‘want to make money’ from his sale this summer, also to lighten their wage bill as he earns €11m per year.
With a deal expiring 2025, De Bruyne has been linked with a move away from the Premier League winners. This is why Guardiola’s side are showing ‘great interest’ in Olmo as they see him as an ideal candidate to replace the 33-year-old Belgian.
The report says the ‘flirtation between Olmo and Guardiola is getting hotter and hotter’. The player is with Spain in Germany and he won’t make a decision on his future until after Euros.
