West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca has this week granted an interview to Italian outlet I Love Palermo Calcio.
In the chat, the player talked about his adaptation to the Premier League, claiming he’s still working to show his best for the Hammers.
“Here in London I have settled in very well. Everything is well-organised and structured, but I’m happy with this new experience,” Scamacca told I Love Palermo Calcio.
“On the pitch my qualities are gradually coming out, it will only be time to determine whether or not I will be the centre-forward of the future.”
West Ham spent €36m to sign Scamacca from Sassuolo last summer. The player says he agreed to the move because he feels very attracted to English football.
“I chose England because there is a greater economic investment for stadiums and various sports facilities. Here they focus a lot on the youth sectors giving more credit to the young generation. They really put football at the centre of everything.”
Featuring for West Ham so far, Scamacca has seven goals in 24 appearances. Those are not bad stats, but are still not enough to impress everyone in his first months at the club.
That seems to be the reason why the Hammers have been linked to a couple of centre-forwards in the past few days. Recent stories from the French media claimed that following an agreement for the signing of Danny Ings from Aston Villa, the Hammers continue to negotiate the signing of Terem Moffi, from Lorient.
That’s more than a sign that David Moyes is desperate for his side to score more goals this season.
