Last year, Sunderland let Benjamin Kimpioka head back to Sweden, where he joined AIK.
The player spent the rest of 2022 there, then moving to Switzerland on a loan to FC Luzern.
Things haven’t been great for him at AIK this season, and according to Aftonbladet, he’s already set to leave the club.
The outlet claims the former Sunderland player has ‘negotiated a solution’ to break his contract one year before its expiry, with both dies wanting to part ways for good.
Kimpioka didn’t play a single minute for AIK this season, and with him told that he’s not part of the club’s plans for the future, he’s set to look for another solution.
The Swedish source insists a move to a Scottish club looks on the cards, although they weren’t able to find out the name of the interested side.
Kimpioka belonged to Sunderland between 2016 and 2022. He was part of the Black Cats’ academy, and made 18 appearances for the first team before they parted ways with him.
He’s now 23, and set to restart his career elsewhere after his Sunderland exit went very wrong indeed.
