Michael Parker is earning rave reviews at Swedish club Öis, which could mean good news for West Brom.

Goteborgs-Posten cover the 21-year-old today after he joined Öis at the end of the January transfer window.

He’s a product of West Brom’s youth academy, first joining their U21s in 2024 before going on two separate loan spells at Hereford. He had previously been at Huddersfield, Shrewsbury and Burnley before moving to the Hawthorns.

Now he finds himself playing in Sweden with Öis, and he’s making a positive impression too. Goteborgs-Posten label him as their ‘hot signing’ and a ‘bit of a dream signing’ for the club.

How he’s settled in quickly since West Brom

According to them Parker has settled in quickly, taking on more and more responsibility and outclassing his teammates during his trial period. That included a superb performance against Ljungskile SK.

Indeed, he impressed so much that IFK Göteborg were linked with a move. Fortunately for Öis, they never did anything concrete. That gave Öis time to get their act together, aided by fans raising money on social media to make the transfer happen.

Parker signed a three-year deal with the club, but how long he stays remains to be seen. The fans that raised money certainly see him as the next big sale at the club. Indeed, they’re hopeful that he can secure Öis’ future long-term.

Baggies secured themselves percentage

That’s where West Brom may benefit. The Baggies allowed Parker to leave on a free transfer but took a ‘larger resale clause’ instead.  They could be set for a tidy profit in the near future if Parker continues to develop as he has in Sweden.

The fact that bigger Swedish sides are already looking at him is evidence of that. They’re unlikely to be the only ones to have taken notice either.

For now, the focus is on him settling further and continuing to impress. But a relatively obscure January deal could end up being a good one for West Brom before too long.
