Mikkel Damsgaard was one of the players to arrive at Brentford in the last window and he’s made four appearances off the bench in the league this season.
The Premier League side took the winger from Sampdoria, months after he recovered from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. He missed more than six months between last October and April due to a thigh injury.
He is yet to start a game for Brentford this season, but the Denmark international has insisted concerns over his fitness are behind him and he’s now eagerly waiting to impress for the Bees.
“I think it looks good. I feel really good and have settled in really well at Brentford. It is of course also an easy club to fall into as a Dane, so that is really positive. I don’t feel anything about the problems I’ve had after I started on a new medication, so I can’t complain,” he told Tipsbladet.
Brentford have a few Danish players in the squad. In addition to this, Thomas Frank and his assistant, Brian Riemer, are also from Denmark.
The 22-year-old has revealed the plan from the Bees suits for his development.
“It’s a good club, and they have a really good plan for me, which I can see myself in. I have to rebuild, and it’s a good place to be. I think the league is a step up and it can develop me even more,” Damsgaard explained.
“I think I’m in a good place, so I’m not upset about anything in relation to which club I play in and so on. But I definitely hoped that the past year would have been better for me and that I would have played a lot more games.
“I would have liked to have taken a step forward instead of a step back. I would have liked to have played 30-40 more games than I have.”
Frank and Brentford will be hoping that Damsgaard will be able to showcase his qualities soon.
