Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘close’ to completing a deal to sign Renato Sanches, according to reports.
The midfielder has two years left on his contract at Lille and various claims from the British press on Monday explained Wolves interest in acquiring his services.
O Jogo in Portugal have been told by sources close to the negotiations that Bruno Lage’s side are edging closer to signing the 24-year-old on a loan deal with a purchase option.
It’s claimed the parties involved in the operation are expected to sort out the ‘missing details’ on Tuesday for the deal to go through.
The Portugal international came up through the ranks of Benfica’s youth system before leaving them for Bayern Munich in 2016. During his time with the Eagles, he coincided with Lage, who was then managing their youth team.
Despite O Jogo stating Wolves are ‘close to strengthening’ their squad with the arrival of Sanches, Lage will not have the player at his disposal for more than a month. Earlier this month, he underwent knee surgery and is expected to return to the pitch in October.
