Last week, Leeds United’s Diego Llorente hinted that he would be open to returning to AS Roma after spending the last 18 months on loan with the Italian club.
On Tuesday, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated that new Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi’s first task is to try to bring the defender back to the club.
Di Marzio also said that the new director was expected to hold talks with the club’s owners regarding the 28-year-old, who is highly valued by manager Daniele De Rossi.
Il Tempo, relayed by Voce Giallorossa, state the centre-back is ‘eager’ to return to the Serie A side in the summer window.
The Spaniard has two years left on his current deal at Elland Road, but the Championship side don’t seem to include him in their plans for next season.
It’s claimed the Whites could be willing to let him leave on loan again, possibly with the inclusion of a €5m buying option.
The report’s title says ‘optimism for Llorente’s permanence’, and with all three parties in favour of a transfer, Roma should be able to sign the Leeds player in the next window.
This deal should please De Rossi, who is content with Llorente’s performances.
