Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Bergvall is clearly thrilled that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a fan of his.
The midfielder has been speaking to SVT Sport in Sweden, and they asked him about Pep Guardiola’s recent praise.
On February 27th, Tottenham suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City and Bergvall was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
After last month’s league tie, Pep Guardiola praised the Tottenham player stating that he was “unstoppable”.
The Sweden international is currently with the national team preparing for the friendlies against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland. This gave SVT Sport the chance to have a chat with the 19-year-old and get his views on Pep Guardiola’s ‘unstoppable’ comment.
“Of course it’s fun, but in the big picture it doesn’t really matter. I just try to play football and develop all the time and help the team. It’s always fun to get praise and you should take it in. But I try not to put too much emphasis on it,” he said.
The youngster arrived at the north London club last summer after Tottenham agreed a deal with Djurgårdens IF Fotboll in February 2024.
Bergvall has played 1,875 minutes from 38 matches for Spurs, managing a goal and four assists in the process.
Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has already confirmed the midfielder will start for his country against Luxembourg.
SVT Sport asked the teenager what he wants to improve on for the national team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers later this year.
“Our game. We had an incredibly good season last year and won our group in the Nations League C division. We will continue that. We know how we want to play football and what we need to do to win,” Bergvall explained.
