Brentford manager Thomas Frank has left the door open for Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen to return to the club.

The Brentford boss has been speaking to the Danish media on Monday and Tipsladet have relayed his comments.

Eriksen has less than three months left on his contract and his future is likely to be away from Manchester United.

Last month, the Denmark international stated he’s looking for a new opportunity and will consider options in the summer window. He joined the Red Devils on a free transfer in 2022, after a short spell at Brentford under Frank’s orders.

Eriksen left Inter Milan after a cardiac arrest in the summer of 2021. He joined Brentford on a free transfer to regain his form, and it helped the 33-year-old to secure a move to Old Trafford.

The midfielder’s time at Manchester United is set to end after this season and Frank says he would like to reunite with his compatriot at the London club.

“Christian is a fantastic player and probably the best Danish player in recent times. I think we saw most recently against Portugal that he’s still in a really good place,” he said.

“There’s no doubt that he really wants to play more and had a really good time when he was with us. I’m open to all players, but of course there are lots of things that need to be finalised when it comes to transfers. In any case, I would say that nothing is closed.”

The Premier League club’s manager was asked if he’s held talks with the Manchester United player.

Responding to that, Frank explained: “I can’t be that specific, and in general I usually say that I really like to talk about the players who are here right now, and if I have to talk about others, I usually say it could be Ronaldo or Messi, as it’s a little safer to talk about. So, I can’t really answer that [n relation to Eriksen].”
