Yago Santiago left his boyhood club Celta Vigo for Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 and has been part of the north London club’s academy since then.
The 20-year-old’s rise in Spurs’ youth system was covered by the Vigo based media in January. They even stated the Premier League is ‘not prepared for what’s coming’ from Santiago, indicating he could get a chance in the first team soon.
AS are now praising the Tottenham youngster and also talk about his future.
The winger has scored seven goals and registered five assists from 15 games this season. Ange Postecoglou had included him in his squad on four occasions but he’s yet to make his senior debut for Tottenham.
The article states his deal lasts until 2025 and Transfermarkt value him at €200k. This ‘could be a bargain’ price for clubs who intend to try to sign him, likely in the next window.
Although the Spaniard hasn’t been given opportunities in the first team, the newspaper says he ‘will soon appear in elite’ due to his impressive performances. Whether that’s at the Premier League side or elsewhere needs to be seen.
AS should really know better than to suggest Santiago would go for €200k, and that’s where their bargain idea ends.
They may want the Tottenham player to be cheap for La Liga clubs, and they may therefore have chosen to believe the Transfermarkt value, but none of that has any relevance in reality.
Should a Spanish club want to sign Yago Santiago then they’ll have to deal with what Spurs demand, and it’s absolutely certain that a supposed Transfermarkt value won’t come into it.
