Richarlison didn’t have to take a long trip to join up with the Brazilian national team this time, as they’re currently in St. Albans preparing for a friendly against England.
The Tottenham Hotspur star was interviewed by CBF, and talked a little about his return to the squad, this time with new coach Dorival Junior.
Richarlison once again highlighted his happiness to play for the national team, and even praised the fact that he’s close to home now.
“I’m the happiest guy in the world just to be here again, wearing this shirt,” said Richarlison.
“I feel at home here. I lived here for a month when I arrived to play for Watford. Here I’m close to everything and I’m very happy.”
Brazil will face England in a friendly at Wembley next Saturday. Richarlison will be seeing some well-known faces, and already sent a message to a specific Tottenham teammate.
“That’s right. I’ve even warned Maddison that we’re going to get them. There’s no such thing as friendship on the pitch. So I hope we can have a great game and, preferably, come away with a win.”
Following the match against England, Brazil will play Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 26th. Those will be Dorival Junior’s first two games in charge, and certainly important for those who want to make it to the Copa América’s squad.
Playing for the national team, Richarlison has 20 goals and eight assists in 48 appearances, and needs to work hard to keep his place in the attack. The 11 goals he’s scored with Tottenham this season can certainly help him achieve that.
