Kayserispor president Nurettin Açıkalın has told the Turkish media he hasn’t given permission for Hull City owner Acun Ilıcalı to approach Sergej Jakirović.

The manager has been strongly linked with the vacant Hull City job in the past week, following the recent departure of Ruben Selles. Indeed, as far as the Championship club seem concerned, the deal is done, and there were claims of an agreement being reached days ago.

CNN Turk have covered comments made by the Kayserispor president when asked about reports of Hull City interest in Jakirović.

Açıkalın insists permission hasn’t been given to the Hull City chief to speak to the coach.

He went on to say what Ilıcalı is doing is wrong and that there are procedures in place for such matters which he believes should be followed.

“We worked in harmony and carried the team to success. We had plans for the new season. Our coach did not say goodbye to us. He didn’t say he was leaving. However, the approach of Hull City President Acun Ilıcalı is not nice at all. This club has a president and a sports director. Permission was not received for a meeting,” said the Kayserispor chief.

Açıkalın was responding to comments made yesterday by Ilıcalı in which he said he wasn’t trying to steal Jakirović and that he intends to hold a meeting with the Kayserispor president.

“I will meet with Nurettin Açıkalın. We did not steal anyone’s coach. We are not like that in terms of style,” said the Hull City owner.

Jakirović was only installed as the Kayserispor manager in January and the 48-year-old helped secure the Kayseri club another season in the Turkish Super Lig.
