Rangers’ Nicolas Raskin could leave Ibrox this summer, according to Het Laatste Nieuws in Belgium.
The midfielder starred for Rangers this season, managing five goals and 11 assists from 48 games. His performances helped him make his debut for Belgium in March and he’s in the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against North Macedonia and Wales.
Raskin has a contract lasting until 2027, but the report states he and his entourage are ‘certainly not averse’ to leaving Rangers. The report adds there is expectation he’ll change clubs in the coming months.
HLN state interest is growing, without providing any details of the clubs that are showing interest in the 24-year-old.
The Scottish club signed the Belgium international from Standard Liège in January 2023 and during his time at Ibrox he played under Philippe Clement’s orders. Rangers showed the exit door to the manager in February and appointed Russell Martin as his permanent successor today.
Raskin played 54 games under Philippe Clement, and the manager believes it’s time for his compatriot to leave Rangers this summer. He’s backed the player to make a switch to the Premier League as the football would suit him.
“I think he is ready. I am even convinced. Nico would fit perfectly in the Premier League. That is why I am not saying that he is in a team from the top six. But just below that he can calmly adapt to the level,” HLN quoted him as saying.
“Make no mistake: Nico has a lot of room to grow. He has to make the right choice now. And if he leaves and gets enough playing time at his new club, he will only get better.”
