Emiliano Martínez has been Aston Villa’s No.1 since they signed him from Arsenal in 2020. The goalkeeper’s rise at Villa Park saw him not only make his debut for Argentine but also cement his place in the national team.

The 32-year-old won the World Cup and the Copa América twice with Argentina and was instrumental in helping Aston Villa return to Europe’s elite club competition after four decades.

At the start of this season, the Villans extended his contract until 2029. Recent claims in the UK have stated Saudi clubs are looking to take him away from Aston Villa in the summer window.

TyC Sports look at these claims and then give their own take on this case. They state he received an approach from the Middle East, but ‘there is no chance’ Martínez will join that league.

It’s unthinkable for Martínez to leave the Premier League for the Saudi league, especially when there is a World Cup in 2026.

Over at Aston Villa, they have to balance their books in order to not breach any financial regulations. Therefore, the South American’s exit shouldn’t be ruled out, but in Argentina it’s thought he certainly won’t move to Saudi.
