Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Facundo Buonanotte “has no ceiling” and is set to be a star in the future.
That’s according to his former manager Carlos Tevez, who believes a mentality change from the youngster during their time together at Rosario has set him up to be a star in the years to come.
Buonanotte joined Brighton in a €6m deal at the beginning of the January transfer window after months of speculation about a move to England.
The Seagulls had chased him throughout the summer and been close to a deal at one point before fan outrage at Rosario led to them cancelling the deal.
That did not put Brighton off, though, and they persisted with their pursuit, eventually agreeing a deal for him to join Roberto de Zerbi’s squad in January.
He’s been a fully fledged member of the first team squad since that point, making nine appearances in all competitions to date and bagging one goal and one assist.
He appears to be the latest youngster set to shine for Brighton and Tevez, who worked alongside him at Rosario, can certainly see that happening.
“Buonanotte is a crack,” he said.
“Something crazy happened to me in training because I saw him as very shy, but he transformed and was always rebellious inside.
“So, when I spoke to him, he was a renegade until one day I went and hugged him, I spoke to him, I acted like a father and he was a totally different player.
“I think Buonanotte has no ceiling, he is a guy who, in the little I could teach him in the morning, went to the gym, ate differently.
“His mentality was different and with a simple hug he already changed his head, you have to perceive when to go strong and when to give a hug.”
