Newcastle United goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen will return to the Premier League side after picking up an injury while training with France U21s on Thursday.

The 20-year-old spent his playing career in France until the Magpies signed him from Stade de Reims in June.

Jaouen became Ligue 2’s record sale as Newcastle United reportedly agreed a €28.5m deal.

Details of Newcastle United player’s injury

In November, he made his debut for Les Bleuets and has made four appearances so far. Manager Gérald Baticle started the Newcastle United player in the 1-1 draw against Iceland U21s and 2-0 win over Estonia U21.

Ewen Jaouen was preparing for the upcoming clash against Luxembourg U21 on Saturday. However, he will miss this clash as Le Parisien, who makes it clear it’s their own update, states he suffered a blow in training on Thursday morning.

The stopper injured his right hamstring and will undergo tests to ‘determine the extent of the injury’. There’s no mention of these results, while he has withdrawn from the national team squad.

This means the player will miss France U21s fixtures against Luxembourg U21s [tomorrow] and Switzerland U21s on October 6th.

Injury concern for Newcastle United

His setback is a concern for both Matthias Jaissle and the Premier League side. However, it’s unlikely to raise any alarm bells at St. James Park.

Ewen Jaouen has made only one start since joining Newcastle United and that was in their 3-2 EFL Cup win over West Bromwich Albion.

Jaissle has favoured Lukáš Horníček ahead of the Frenchman as his No.1. The Czech also arrived in the summer from SC Braga. Last week, Horníček revealed he had several offers and the Tyneside club were the last to submit a proposal.

The manager even started Horníček in the EFL Cup win over Millwall in September. Taking this into account, Jaouen’s absence [unless the Czech misses a match] won’t have a big impact on Newcastle United.
