For the past few months, the Portuguese media has made it clear that Sporting would like to sell Ousmane Diomande, as despite the defender’s ups and downs, he could still leave in a a big transfer.
Newcastle United have frequently been mentioned as a potential destination for the defender, even though the Magpies are still to place a bid for the Ivorian.
Now there’s one more reason to believe that Diomande’s departure from Sporting is being worked on. According to newspaper Record, the player has just changed agents.
It’s said that the centre-back left Prosport International and is now represented by ROOF. It’s pointed out that this new agency has most of their clients in Germany and England.
Newcastle once again get a mention, with Record claiming Diomande continues on the ‘radar’ of some Premier League clubs, with the Magpies included.
Despite the defender’s €80m release clause, Sporting would be fine selling him for €60m, especially because the interest has gone cold with him not being so great in the past few months.
So if Newcastle really want to negotiate, we bet they can get him for even less.
