Newcastle United ‘have come knocking’ for VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy and are in the mix for him in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say the Magpies may have been handed a boost too as AC Milan cannot afford his contract demands.
They cover a recent report from Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who explains that in the poker game around Guirassy, his contract demands are ‘proving to be a hurdle’.
That’s because the striker wants to see his wage packet increase from €3m to at least €5m if he is to move in January and that figure makes getting a deal done complicated for Milan at this moment in time.
Thus, the door has potentially been opened for their rivals to make their move and according to FT information, Newcastle are one of the other sides to ‘have come knocking’ for the striker, whose dream move would be to the Premier League.
That’s not the first time they’ve been linked this month, with several outlets in Germany putting Newcastle in the mix and a report on Christmas Eve stating that they are ‘intensively involved’ with the player.
They could easily afford his release clause, even if it is €20m and Eddie Howe has insisted they are limited by Financial Fair Play rules as well.
They can also easily match his wage demands should they wish, and it would not be surprising if those knocks became more insistent and louder in the coming weeks.
