Newcastle United are interested in a Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch as they look to bolster Eddie Howe’s side in the January transfer window.

That’s according to SportBILD journalist Christian Falk, who adds Newcastle to the mix for the striker as he continues to impress in Germany this season.

Ducksch has been in good goalscoring form for Bremen this season, with five goals and four assists in 11 league games this season and one goal in one game in the German cup.

He’s continued a superb run of form across 2023, which has him as the best German goal scorer in his country with a tally of 14 goals in 30 games, a record only bettered by Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy.

That’s earned him plenty of praise and a call-up to the German national team and led to potential transfer interest in him.

A report earlier today indicated that Nottingham Forest were looking at a move for him and now Falk adds Newcastle into the mix for the 29-year-old.

They’re expected to be busy in the January transfer window after a raft of injuries left them short, particularly up front, where Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are both currently dealing with setbacks and other forward options such as Harvey Barnes, Elliot Anderson and Jacob Murphy are also out.

Thus, reinforcements are needed and, according to Falk, Ducksch is being looked at. He makes no mention of a transfer fee or anything of that nature, just that the striker is tied down to a deal until 2026.

However, the report in SportBILD earlier today made it clear that he and Bremen would be interested in a move as it would allow both of them to make money.

That also failed to mention an asking price, but it seems something of a race may be developing, so that information may be revealed sooner rather than later.
