Palmeiras are actively working on strengthening their squad and have included Sheffield United’s Vinicius Souza in their target list.
That’s according to ESPN in Brazil, who state Palmeiras want to sign the 25-year-old in the winter market.
Sheffield United took the midfielder from Lommel SK in August 2023 and offered him a deal until 2027.
He’s been a regular at Sheffield United and after making 36 appearances in the Premier Legue, the Brazilian has made 20 starts in the Championship this season. Vinicius’ physicality and qualities have convinced the Brazilian club to sign him in this window.
Palmeiras legal manager Leonardo Holanda is in England to ‘try to advance negotiations’ for the Sheffield United player.
ESPN explain Chris Wilder’s side are asking for a ‘high price’, without mentioning figures, and there are other clubs competing for Vinicius’ signature. These factors make the deal complicated for Palmeiras, also because Sheffield United’s request is beyond their reach.
In fact, they are looking to sign him on loan to improve their squad for the summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Vinicius seems open to a move as he sees it positively to play in the FIFA tournament. The deal can go through if Palmeiras can overcome challenges and convince Sheffield United.
