Over the past few days, claims from the Italian media have covered Atalanta’s pursuit for Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana.
On Friday, Tutto Atalanta reported the Serie A club have accelerated negotiations to sign the winger.
Two days ago, the same outlet stated the operation to take the Southampton player to Atalanta is on the right track. They also reported the operation could be closed for €18m after the Saints rejected La Dea’s initial bid of €14m.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio provides a short but important update in this case.
He states the Italian club have made a new bid and this could be ‘the decisive one’, most likely to find an agreement with Southampton. There’s no mention of the figure, but it’ll be higher than the €14m that was rejected by Southampton.
Sulemana failed to enjoy regular minutes at Southampton under Russell Martin’s orders this season. The English club replaced Martin with Ivan Jurić, and the latter’s arrival improved the Ghana international’s situation.
The attacker played regularly under Jurić, who was also relieved of his duties at the end of the season. The Croatian has joined Atalanta and is pushing them to sign Sulemana.
