On deadline day, Liverpool allowed Harvey Elliott to join Valencia on a season-long loan deal.
The 23-year-old’s agent, Srđan Lakić, initially wanted to take him to a surprise club before his move to Mestalla.
Lakić was the guest on Gol.hr‘s podcast, Off the Record, where he talked about his wish to take the Liverpool player to Dinamo Zagreb.
Failure to take Liverpool player to Croatia
Roof manages Harvey Elliot, and Srđan Lakić is one of the representatives of the agency. He worked on the operation that took the winger to Valencia.
Prior to that, the agent wanted to take the Liverpool owned player and Giovanni Reyna to Dinamo Zagreb. The latter left Borussia Dortmund for RC Strasbourg last month.
Viking FK overcame the Croatian club in the qualifiers to make it to the group stage of the Champions League. This defeat partly played a role in Dinamo Zagreb’s failure to sign the English attacker.
“I have to admit, a lot of work was done. I’m part of a large agency that represents a lot of significant players. I have participated in many transfers that are not officially under my primary responsibility,” he said.
“For example, I can mention that I worked on Giovanni Reyna’s transfer to Dinamo, who really wanted to sign him, but in the end, he chose Strasbourg.
“Also, my idea was for Harvey Elliott to come to Dinamo, especially if the Blues qualify for the Champions League, but he ultimately went to Valencia. I was also involved in that deal.”
Liverpool man wanted Valencia
In the summer, Harvey Elliot returned to Anfield, after a disappointing loan spell at Aston Villa.
He wasn’t part of Andoni Iraola’s core plans this season. Therefore, the Reds man went on loan to Valencia, who are covering part of his salary.
There were several other unnamed clubs willing to cover his full salary and Liverpool were in favour of these clubs over Los Ches. However, Elliott pushed to join the La Liga side.
Last weekend, the Liverpool attacker made his Valencia debut in their 5-0 defeat to Barcelona.
