Earlier on Monday, we covered a breaking story that Moussa Djenepo was edging closer to a transfer away from Southampton.

The winger is going back to his former club, Standard Liège, for a small transfer fee of €3.5m, and with him travelling today, the belief was the medicals would be done on Tuesday.

However, Sacha Tavolieri brings a new update on Monday afternoon, as he claims those check ups for the Southampton player have in fact been brought forward.

The player was already travelling from Paris to Liège when the first update came in, but with the 25-year-old already in the city, there is a chance to get everything done on Monday.

That’s why Tavolieri claims that the medical tests will now take place ‘this afternoon’, which could help Southampton and the Jupiler Pro League club announce the transfer earlier than anticipated.

Djenepo was very clearly not in the Saints’ plans this season, having yet to appear in a Championship game, although he did play the full 90 minutes in the EFL tie against Gillingham, which was lost 3-1.
