Daniel Muñoz is a true leader who is doing well at Crystal Palace thanks to his humility and mental strength.

That’s according to Fernando Salazar, a shareholder at Colombian club Aguilas, the club where the defender started his career.

Muñoz has been earning rave reviews at Crystal Palace since joining them in an €8m deal from KRC Genk at the end of the January transfer window.

He quickly established himself as the number one right back at the club and has been worthy of that status, with a series of impressive performances.

That’s been the case since Oliver Glasner arrived at the club to replace Roy Hodgson, with his brand of attacking, exciting football seemingly getting the best from the 27-year-old.

He is looking likely to be a key player for Crystal Palace moving forwards under the Austrian coach and continue his upward trajectory, which has seen him move from Colombia, to Belgium to the Premier League in the space of five years.

That’s an impressive achievement by any regards and Salazar, who knows the player well, believes that is due to Muñoz’s mental strength more than anything else.

“Daniel Muñoz is a true role model in the world of sports, Daniel is not only an exemplary athlete for his skill and dedication on the field, but also for his incomparable mental strength and his commitment to the values that exalt human beings,” he said.

“He belongs to that elite of athletes who not only focus on victory, but on the impact of their actions on and off the field of play.

“Daniel represents resilience at its finest. He demonstrates time and time again that obstacles are nothing more than steps towards success. His clear focus on goals in life, both personal and professionals, positions him as a natural leader.

“His integrity and humility significantly distinguish him. In a world where many seek recognition through noise, Daniel stands out for his silent work, always putting the well-being of his team and community before his own benefit.

“This humility, combined with his excelsior mental strength, not only elevates him personally, but elevates the spirit of all those who have the privilege of knowing him and learning from him.

“Muñoz is, without a doubt, a well-rounded athlete, a keeper of the home and a living example that true success is measured not only by trophies won, but by lives positively impacted. We are truly fortunate to have an athlete of his caliber, who redefines what it means to be a champion.”

You don’t much better than that.
