There appears to be some confusion over the transfer of Nicolas Pépé to Besiktas, with the Arsenal player earlier reported to be on his way to the Turkish side.

This came from L’Equipe in France, who said the forward was already undergoing a medical ahead of the move, which got hopes up that an exit was around the corner.

Over in Turkey, however, that is certainly not what is being reported, with journalist Firat Günayer bringing the latest to the table on the situation surrounding the Arsenal forward.

Taking to Twitter, he directly refers to the article from L’Equipe, and claims that it’s the player’s agent who is telling all this to the French newspaper.

The reason he is doing that is because ‘he wants to bring the player’ to Besiktas, but the Turkish club themselves ‘clearly deny’ a transfer is taking place.

They appear to have no intention of signing the Arsenal forward, as their last aim of the transfer window, which closes on September 15th for them, is to sign a defender, and nothing else.

While they are also in the hunt for a midfielder, they only have one man for that in mind, and that’s Koray Günter.

If they can’t get him, they will just do without, but they do not appear to be in talks to sign the Arsenal flop.
