Kiko Casilla, whom Leeds United fans will know very well, is close to being back on a football pitch, according to reports today.
Tuttosport, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, reveals that the 37-year-old is close to joining Serie B side Lecco.
There are just a few details before that is confirmed. First, Casilla wants to ‘personally know the environment’ to make sure he wants to move to the Italian club.
Then, since he’s been out of action since the summer, there’ll be some ‘in-depth’ medicals, just so they’re sure about his physical condition.
Casilla left Leeds in 2022 when agreeing a move to Getafe, but despite staying at the Spanish side for one year, he was only used twice, having last played on the 3rd of January 2023.
As Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo covers the potential move, they point out that ‘many considered him retired’, so that’s quite a surprise for them that he could be back playing soon.
Casilla belonged to Leeds between 2019 and 2011, and that included a season-long spell at Elche.
While at Elland Road, he made 62 appearances, being part of the squad that ended up being promoted to the Premier League.
