Burnley are set to announce the signing of 21-year-old goalkeeper Max Weiß after he completed a medical at Turf Moor.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that the goalkeeper is set to sign for Burnley in a €5m deal.
Weiß is set to join from 2. Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC, a club he has been with since 2020 after joining on a free transfer from Sandhausen Youth.
He’s worked his way up to the first team at the club in the years since and has 42 appearances for the first tea since his debut in the 2. Bundesliga in May 2022 at just 17-years-old. Last season he managed 34 appearance sin the division, conceding 55 and keeping eight clean sheets.
He’s now set to move to the Premier League, with newly promoted Burnley finalising the €5m deal for him after he completed a medical.
Plettenberg reports that Burnley were left impressed by the goalkeeper’s fitness after his holiday this summer. They believe the 21-year-old has the potential to become their long-term number one in future.
For now, he will slot in alongside James Trafford, Etienne Green and Vaclav Hladky in Scott Parker’s squad.
