Manchester United have identified Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku as a target for the winter market.
That’s at least what L’Equipe are reporting, when discussing the 26-year-old’s situation at Chelsea.
The France international has managed 10 goals and an assist from 17 games for Chelsea this season.
Enzo Maresca has mainly used him in the UEFA Conference League and the EFL Cup, while being a substitute in the Premier League. To put it in context, he clocked in 154 minutes from 10 league matches.
The 26-year-old is considering leaving the Blues and Manchester United have emerged as an option. At this point in time, he hasn’t held talks with Chelsea over a possible exit in January or next summer.
Nkunku could soon open discussions, considering the Red Devils have carried out a survey for him. In this way, Manchester United ‘have taken action’ to sign him in January.
His former club, Paris Saint-Germain, could also be an option. The Frenchman ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ for the Ligue 1 side.
L’Equipe say the Chelsea player, who feels close to returning to his best form, prefers a permanent transfer instead of a loan move.
Maresca has several options in the attacking division. Therefore, Chelsea would be ‘open to a departure’ of Nkunku. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will take further action to secure his services.
