Manchester United are interested in a Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi and even sent a scout to watch him last Sunday.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the midfielder is liked by several Premier League clubs but ‘most notably’ Manchester United.
They explain that Frattesi has been earning plenty of attention with his performances for Sassuolo, with Monza trying to get him last January and Inter also showing interest in him as a back-up to Nicolo Barella.
Tottenham also showed interest in the summer transfer window alongside Roma, but the latter deemed him too expensive and went for a loan deal for Georginio Wijnaldum instead.
Indeed, last Sunday they sent an ‘observer’ to watch him in the clash with Salernitana. It’s not the first time the Red Devils have scouted him and ‘it won’t be the last either’ according to the newspaper.
That’s because there’s a belief the ‘running and intensity’ he brings to the pitch could make him the ‘ideal midfielder’ for the Premier League and Manchester United’s midfielder.
Sassuolo are naturally not interested in a sale, particularly not for a bargain price, and made it clear in the summer that they are valuing him at €35m. If a ‘rich club’ like Manchester United come knocking, though, that figure would ‘rise even further’.
Part of that is due to a 30% sell on clause owed to Roma, who haven’t ruled him out themselves and are rooting for their counterparts to ‘snatch up a hefty price’.
