Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane will be the two major additions to the Manchester United squad for the 2021/22 season.
A section of the English club’s supporters, at least on social media, are urging the Red Devils to sign a new defensive midfielder.
United could be presented a cheap option in the market, in the form of Corentin Tolisso.
The 27-year-old, who can operate as a defensive midfielder, has entered his final year of contract.
Having completed self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19, he returned to training on Tuesday, and L’Equipe say the France international learned he’s not included in Julian Nagelsmann’s plans for the new campaign.
The Bavarian club’s officials, during the supervisory board meeting, decided to ‘try and sell him as quickly as possible’. Therefore, the ex-Lyon man could leave the Bundesliga winners before the window closes and Manchester United are named in the suitors list.
It’s said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are one of the clubs who ‘appreciate the profile’ of the player, and Bayern, who invested €40m in signing him in 2017, will accept an offer around €10m.
Based on the fee needed to complete his signing, Tolisso can be the cheap option for United, but it’s also worth keeping an eye on his injury record.
Since joining Bayern four years ago, Tolisso has been restricted to only 32 league starts, out of which only 15 came in the last three seasons.
