Over the weekend, Manchester United emerged as a suitor for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.
Corriere della Sera claimed the Italian is one of the names being considered by the Red Devils should they replace Andre Onana, with the report stating that a fee of over €40m will be needed for the player.
TuttoAtalanta have now reported that Manchester United will have to pay as much as €50m to land the 24-year-old, whose situation is ‘suddenly’ attracting attention.
They believe that the goalkeeper is actually seen as the first-choice target, if Onana departs, and his name has quickly risen up on the shortlist at Old Trafford.
The feeling is that Atalanta are already looking for replacements, with Alex Meret and ex-La Dea player Pierluigi Gollini seen as possible options.
The Serie A side are exploring the market already because Manchester United have a good relationship with them due to previous negotiations involving Amad Diallo and Rasmus Højlund.
The outlet indicate that everything hinges on the ‘economic strength and intention’ of Ruben Amorim’s side, suggesting that a move can go through if the right amount is offered.
