Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy that Manchester City are ‘discreetly observing’ Napoli’s Fabián Ruiz.
Napoli signed Fabián from Real Betis in 2018 and he’s been one of the key players for the Serie A side since. His performances for the club have seen him become a regular for Spain under Robert Moreno.
Sport now adds to it and claims the midfielder has ‘grown by leaps and bounds’ since leaving Betis, but their main focus is on the Premier League winners.
City sent a scout monitor the midfielder during his side’s 3-2 Champions League win over Red Bull Salzburg as Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘very interested’ in the 23-year-old.
It’s claimed the English champions view Fabián as a replacement for David Silva. The latter’s contract at the Etihad expires after this season.
Sport, however, state it will not be easy for City to complete Fabián’s transfer.
City have a poor relationship with Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis after they failed to sign Jorginho from the Italian side in 2018.
Sport states no club will reach the figures De Laurentiis want as the Spaniard’s realistic price is around €60-80m.
The report adds Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested in him and the two clubs are trying to convince the midfielder to join them.
