According to a claim in the Greek media, Celtic are interested in signing AEK goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas.

Sdna.Gr report Celtic are looking to sign a stopper in the January transfer window, and are following Barkas’ performances.

Neil Lennon’s side loaned Fraser Forster from Southampton at the start of the season and also have Scott Bain and Craig Gordon in their squad.

However, Sdna believe signing 25 year old Barkas could still be a possibility for the Scottish Premiership club when the window opens in the new year.

It’s reported AEK are looking for a fee in the region of €7m for the Greece international, who’s been in impressive form for both club and country this season.

Barkas has made 10 appearances in all competitions this campaign and has kept five clean sheets.

He is under contract with his current club until June 2022. The Dutch born goalkeeper has made ten appearances for the Greek national side since making his debut in 2018.
