Last week, Calciomercato reported Manchester City have been following AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders for several months.
Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini provides the latest on Manchester City in his column for TuttoMercatoWeb.
He claims the Premier League winners are ‘thinking’ about the midfielder to bolster their squad.
Rodri is out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in September. Manchester City have already been linked to a few midfielders, including the 26-year-old.
He has caught the attention of other clubs and Ceccarini claims the Serie A side are aware they will soon receive requests for Reijnders. Rodri’s setback has seen Manchester City ‘test the waters’ for him.
The journalist states Pep Guardiola sees the Netherlands international as an ‘ideal player’ for his style of play. He adds the English champions have shown ‘strong interest’ in the Dutchman but haven’t taken concrete steps so far.
Reijnders is happy with his life at the San Siro and Milan want to extend his contract until 2030. The two parties intend to ‘finalise everything before the end of this season’. This should give Milan, who are braced for approaches for the Dutchman, the upper hand.
Ceccarini says Manchester City are also monitoring Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci.
