With Real Sociedad interested in signing Sergio Gómez from Manchester City, an update on this chase is today brought by El Desmarque.
The outlet writes that there’s ‘confidence’ at the Spanish club that there’ll be successful in negotiations with the Premier League side, but it’s not expected to be a simple operation.
As reported by Cope today, there are coaches at Manchester City who are advising against Gómez’s departure from the squad. They think he’d be an important player in the future, and the club may regret if they lose him now.
The problem is that the 23-year-old doesn’t see himself having many more chances to play for Pep Guardiola’s side next season, and that’s why he welcomes a move to Real Sociedad.
According to the report, Gomez has already reached an understanding with his agents about the move, and now waits for the parties involved to sort the situation out.
The fullback joined Manchester City in a €15m move from RSC Anderlecht in 2022, and so far, made 38 appearances for the club. With only 456 minutes played last season, it does make sense that he’s eager to go and play somewhere else.
